Junior Ladder Descriptions

Ages 5 to 17, Beginner to Advanced

Fourth Ladder

(Ages 5-7)
The Fourth Ladder clinic is intended to introduce young children to tennis. This year we will incorporate the USTA's Quickstart Program at Mashantum.  As in the past, some time will be devoted to non-tennis activities to enable children to develop motor skills and coordination.  When we proceed to play, we will use smaller racquets, nets and courts, as well as, softer, low bounce balls to enhance their ability to actually play tennis at this young age.

Third Ladder

(Ages 7-10)
Step up one rung to reach this next Ladder.  Technique for all strokes, stroke and fitness drills, fun games, and an introduction to strategy will all be part of this clinic.  Focus will be on consistency, starting to play real matches, and etiquette.

Second Ladder

(Ages 10-13)
Another rung higher and you've made it to the next Ladder.  Soon the top Ladder and Team match play will be in reach.  Continued instruction on technique and strategies, as well as, drills, fitness, etiquette, and, of course, match play and games.   

First Ladder (and Team)

(Ages 13-17)
This top Ladder has it all.  Technique, Drills, Strategy, Fitness, Etiquette, Match Play, and Inter-Club Team Match Play on Fridays (Substituted for Friday's Clinic will be the Inter-Club Match from 1:00-3:00pm.  First Ladder participants may arrive early to warm-up on match days)  And, yes, we will still have fun games!

2012 SEASON: JUNE 25th to AUGUST 24th

Ladder Schedule

The Ladder Clinics will run from June 25 through August 24, 2012.  Clinics will meet five (5) days per week, weather permitting (Substituted for First Ladder on Fridays will be Team Inter-Club match).
  • Fourth Ladder (Ages 5-7) – 9:00 to 9:45 a.m.
  • Third Ladder (Ages 7-10) – 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. 
  • Second Ladder (Ages 10-13) – 10:45 to 11:45 a.m.
  • First Ladder (Ages 13-17) – 11:45 to 1:00 p.m.(Substituted for First Ladder on Fridays will be Interclub match play from 1:00-3:00 p.m.)

Ladder Clinic Rates

  • Regular Rates (without Family Membership Discount) are:  $75 per week; $70 per week for four or more weeks. 
  • Early Registration Rates are: $70 per week.; $65 per week for four or more weeks.  Registration and payment must be received by June 1st. 
  • Register Early as space may be limited, adjustments can be made as necessary. 
  • FAMILY MEMBERSHIP DISCOUNT: Deduct 20% from total fees if you have a Family Membership

Eligibility and Court Usage:

Children DO NOT need to take out a membership in the Mashantum Tennis Club in order to take clinics or lessons.  Registered children are welcome to use the hard court as available, however, if non-member parents would like to play, they will be treated as guests and must pay the guest fees. 

Private Lessons

Private lessons are available early June through late September for children in the clinic program, members or guests.

Rates:
Head Pro:  $60/hour 
Assistant Pro: $40/hour. 
An additional $10 Guest Fee will be added for non-members.

Junior Ladder Registration Form: 

Click "Download File" below to access this form (click "save" to fill out later or "open" to fill out now, if "allow" comes up, please click on it as well.)  The top Form is MS Word and you may fill it out on your computer and print.  The bottom Form is PDF, which you print and fill out by hand.  Either form is fine.  Just Print, Sign and Mail the Registration & Waiver forms with a Check to the address on the form.  (These forms cannot be submitted online, they must be printed and mailed.  Should you have any problems downloading or filling out the forms, please email: wes@mashantumtennis.com)
