Tennis is alive and well at Mashantum.  Ladies round robin play on Tuesday & Thursday from 4:00-6:00pm had the courts hopping with activity.  Men's doubles on Saturday morning at 8:30am had all four courts filled with over a dozen members and a few prospective members checking out the competition.  Our Juniors put on a good show at their first home match Friday against Hyannisport ending the day with a highlight win by Jason Carrier over their #1 player. 
Adult clinics (Cardio, Adult, & New Player) start this coming week -  sign up in the shop.  The mens and ladies singles tournament starts July 8th, so put your name down to try for the Cup... 
Don't forget to check the Daily Status update on the home page of our website should rain enter the picture.  I'll try to post the conditions by 8AM if there is any question.

**Courts will be closed daily from 1:00-1:30pm for watering & maintenance and should be available for use no later than 2:00pm.
Any Courts not occupied are swept & lined by staff at 3:30pm and between 6:00 & 6:30pm Monday through Friday.
As always, if you choose to sweep and line the courts after you play it is greatly appreciated as it only helps to keep the courts in tip top shape.

To all Full Season Members that would like to use the courts in the "pre-season," please note that if you arrive at the club and the courts are locked, the combination for the padlock on the front gate is available on the "Members Only" page on the website.  If you need the password to access this page, please email me at: wes@mashantumtennis.com and I'll confirm your membership application has been receieved and email you the password.  Thank you.

It's May showers this spring, but hopefully Memorial Day weekend will bring the sun to Mashantum.  We're still trying to have all four courts open for Memorial Day weekend, but the weather is fighting our progress.  In any case, two courts are up and running and I've been down at the club on a fairly regular basis getting things ready for the busy summer season. 
Please feel free to email me at wes@mashantumtennis.com with any questions about membership or junior clinic applications, and remember to get them in before June 1st to receive the pre-season reduced rates. 
Also, I'll be available for private lessons during the month of June, and I will have demos, equipment, and balls available at the club, so just let me know if you'd like to brush up a little before the summer season starts.

Courts Open for Play:
The rain stopped just long enough to allow Howard to ready two of the courts for play (with Bob Brett, Lucy Shepard, and yes, even Chris Wadsworth assisting with the nailing of the lines), so please feel free to give the red clay a pre-season test drive.  As maintenance is less regular this time of year, please sweep and line the court(s) when you've finished play.  Also, be wary of playing on the courts if they are too wet as this can cause damage to the surface.
The second two courts will be prepared for play during the week before Memorial Day weekend, so we hope to see all four in use over the holiday weekend.  Wes will be available for lessons starting in early June, just email him wes@mashantumtennis.com) to arrange a time or if you have any questions.
Lastly, please remember to send in your Membership Application and/or Junior Registration forms by June 1st to take advantage of the pre-season discounted rates.  Many forms and inquiries have already been received, so it looks to be a very active 2011 season.
