In 2011, Wes Martin will join us to take over the rolesof both Manager and Head Instructor, returning Mashantum to a model that prevailed for many years “in the old days.” A graduate of Colby College and resident of East Sandwich, Wes brings extensive experience to his new assignment. With over 18 years of teaching experience, Wes is a USPTA Certified Pro 1 Tennis Professional and operates his own tennis business here on the Cape. During the summers of 2001-03, he was tennis professional at the Hyannisport Club before becoming the Manager and Head Tennis Professional at Craigville Tennis Club, a post he held from 2003-06. During the winters from 2000-06, he was employed as Head Tennis Professional at the Mid-Cape Racquet and Health Club, taking over as year-round Director of Junior Tennis for 2006 and 2007. While at Mid-Cape, he privately coached several highly ranked USTA New England junior players. Wes has also been the Head Coach of the Sandwich High School Girls’ Tennis Team since 2001, during which time his team achieved 5 consecutive years as the Atlantic Coast League Champions.
In 2011, Wes will introduce in our 5th ladder group the Quickstart program, designed by the USTA for beginning tennis players ages 5-8. You will hear more about that in the near future.
In addition to leading the morning program for youngsters, Wes will be offering clinics and private instruction for adults.
